Theatrical Reissues

Hollywood Vault is the story of how the business of film libraries emerged and evolved, spanning the silent era to the sale of feature libraries to television. Author Eric Hoyt argues that film libraries became valuable not because of the introduction of new technologies but because of the emergence and growth of new markets.

One of the most important markets for old movies has been the theatrical reissue marketplace. This digital exhibit, built using Omeka, shares clippings and evidence from Hoyt's book. Additionally, the exhibit features videos of the author, who explains how the theatrical reissue marketplace historically evolved.
